For a true entrepreneur, passion isn’t just a driving force, it is the very lens through which they see the world. No matter where the journey leads, the desire to build something meaningful always rises to the forefront.
This relentless drive is exactly what powers Alex Reddaway, the founder and Managing Director of Leaf Capital Pte Limited. Established in 2021, the enterprise was born out of a commitment to sustainable innovation, proving that when entrepreneurial passion aligns with practical solutions, it has the potential to reshape an entire industry.
Leaf Capital is an enterprise that sells Electric Vehicle (EV) charging services and leases solar systems alongside EV-related equipment. The company operates across Viti Levu, with its EV chargers currently installed at two locations in Suva, which are Kundan Singh and Mana Coffee, as well as at Maui Bay in Sigatoka, and RB Patel Jet Point in Nadi.
Electric vehicle (EV) charging is the catalyst transforming sustainable transit across Fiji, completely replacing the reliance on imported petrol or diesel. At its core, Leaf Capital’s infrastructure bridges the gap between clean power generation and everyday transit. Rather than drawing solely from the traditional grid, these smart charging stations are designed to integrate directly with sustainable solar-and-battery installations.
When a driver plugs into any Leaf Capital station across Viti Levu, the system intelligently manages the flow of clean energy, converting it into the precise Direct Current (DC) electricity required to safely and rapidly replenish the vehicle’s battery pack. By matching cutting-edge power management with a seamless, solar-ready charging experience, Leaf Capital provides a practical, real-world blueprint for the future of green transport in Fiji.
BLP Business Advisory Subsidy: supporting Leaf Capital to scale
Deploying such advanced infrastructure across the country, however, came with its own set of heavy financial and operational hurdles. As an early-stage renewable energy developer in Fiji, Alex had to channel every available resource into high-stakes technical assets, specifically solar design hardware, battery storage, and complex power-monitoring systems. In a lean startup environment, prioritising these critical engineering components meant that marketing and digital outreach had to take a backseat. Leaf Capital had successfully established a cutting-edge physical presence on the ground, but without a centralised online platform, they faced a widening gap in public awareness, leaving everyday drivers in the dark about where and how to access their growing charging network.
Recognising that an invisible business cannot scale, Alex knew that exposing the enterprise to a wider customer base required a robust digital storefront. To transition from a hidden infrastructure network to a publicly recognised brand, Leaf Capital needed to utilise the internet to design a dedicated website for awareness, real-time station advertising, and promotional work. This critical pivot is exactly where the Business Link Pacific (BLP) advisory subsidy programme stepped in, providing the necessary financial support to fund their web development project through BLP Advisor Resort Support, without draining the capital needed to keep their physical stations running.
The business encountered this timely opportunity through Business Assistance Fiji (BAF), which serves as the in-country partner for BLP. This localised support meant that Leaf Capital could maintain its momentum on vital infrastructure development, particularly regarding the EV charging rollout and solar-plus-battery installations across Viti Levu, without diverting essential working capital at a time when strict cash discipline mattered most. The funded website ultimately gave Leaf Capital a highly credible “front door” for commercial clients who wanted to understand the business’s capabilities before picking up the phone. Even though their deep tech story is best told through the tangible, solar-ready hardware running on the ground, the website successfully provides the bigger picture by offering clear, accessible information. Ultimately, it supports daily operations by giving partners a professional, trustworthy place to land after an initial introduction.
“Without a website, you cannot be a serious player. Having a website in place introduces your business to a massive pool of customers,” Alex shared during an interview with a BAF officer, Lanieta Senirosi.
Reflecting on the collaboration between BAF, BLP, and Leaf Capital, the focus naturally turned to how such partnerships serve as a compelling blueprint for driving digital transformation, climate action, and MSME resilience in the Pacific.
Importantly, Alex noted that the success of the BLP subsidy relies primarily on its practical, low friction focus on business fundamentals. He emphasised that the true value of the blueprint is less about digital transformation as an isolated concept, and more about removing the small, stubborn friction points that prevent early-stage businesses from presenting themselves professionally. Ultimately, establishing this baseline credibility is what matters most when Leaf Capital is working to close a complex, ten-year power purchase agreement with a major resort or a commercial operator.

The business is expanding its services into grid-tied solar systems. Their first completed project is Paradise Solar, a 250kWp off-grid solar system with a 670kWh battery storage unit for a resort in Taveuni in January 2026. Building on this momentum, the team is currently working on a 525kWp grid-tie solar system at The Outrigger in Korotogo. Additionally, a 220kWp system equipped with a 1MWh battery is currently underway for a resort in the Yasawa Islands.
The steady growth of Leaf Capital highlights a vital truth for Fiji’s private sector; ambitious green visions require solid foundations to scale. By mitigating the heavy financial and advisory barriers that early-stage enterprises typically face, the BLP subsidy program seamlessly delivered on the ground by BAF, serves as an essential channel for local economic growth. This powerful partnership effectively bridges the gap between grassroots innovation and commercial reality, ensuring that forward-thinking MSMEs have the resources, credibility, and professional tools needed to thrive sustainably.
Through targeted subsidies and expert business diagnostics, BAF and BLP are doing far more than just funding isolated projects, they are actively de-risking regional innovation. By empowering local entrepreneurs to drive real-world climate action, they are building a more resilient, self-reliant Pacific economy from the ground up.
