In 2018, Rajendra Singh launched SynBiz Solutions Business Consulting in Samoa, after a career building a diverse set of business skills working in large international companies.
At this time, he started working with BLP who were expanding their operations in the Pacific.
Becoming a member of the BLP Advisory Network, Rajendra says “BLP had a huge hand in supporting my business growth. Over the years, Rajendra says a good percentage of his clients have been referrals through BLP. “My success has been closely linked to BLP. During the pandemic for example, the BLP Grant planning work, kept us afloat.”
“The benefit for my clients is that because I am part of the BLP Advisory Network, it means we can access business advisory subsidies for them, which makes it so much more affordable for them to come to us. For SMEs, it also gives them the assurance that as a BLP approved advisor, we have the expertise to support them with the right advice.”
Recognising the opportunity to gain more clients, over the years he has continued to expand his BLP approved advisor competencies. Now he is one of the few advisors in the network who have eight business competencies – Accounting & Financial Management, Strategy & Business Planning, Financing & Loan Facilitation, Advertising & Promotions, Business Continuity Planning, Business Coaching & Training, Marketing Strategy and Digital & Online Solutions. Just like Rajendra, for many advisors being a part of the BLP Advisory Network, allows them to test their advisory skills through the BLP competency assessments.
Rajendra is also an elite group of Gold BLP Advisors. What does this mean? Advisors at this level are recognised by BLP as offering a high level of professionalism and expertise. It also distinguishes them as having a deep understanding of small and medium sized enterprises and robust advisory processes in place.
While retaining his business in Samoa with seven staff, recently Rajendra has moved back to Fiji with his family to build a new business headquarters with Fiji giving him access to potentially more staff and to provide opportunities for his family.
In Fiji, Rajendra is joined by his wife working in the business, but that’s all set to change – they’re looking for office space and are hiring staff, with big plans to expand their operations.
“We want to have staff in each of the BLP countries that SynBiz operates in – currently operating in Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Kiribati.”
He says the shift from Samoa to Fiji has enabled him time to reflect upon how far the business has come as part of the BLP Advisor Network.
“It is challenging running an advisory business, but we’ve got this far without much capital, so I’m confident for the future with the support of BLP.”
BLP facilitates access to business advisory services and financial support. To start your journey with BLP, you can self-assess your needs by using the free online tools available to help small- and medium-sized businesses diagnose areas in their businesses that an advisor could improve.
The first step can be the online Business Health Check. You can also check your business’s resilience to respond to crises or climate change challenges on the Business Continuity Planner and the Climate Action Sensor. If you prefer to meet a local BLP representative in person to discuss your business, get in touch with our local partners to arrange a face-to-face Diagnostic.
