Organics Cook Islands: a digital transformation
With an exciting new health product, Moringa Tea, a pioneering organic farming business turned to BLP for advice to promote its health-giving benefits to an international audience.
Owners of Organics Cook Islands, Robert and Susana Wigmore received a subsidy for expert support from BLP Business Advisor Haus of Skai who helped them establish a modern online presence with innovative digital marketing strategies – enabling them to boost brand visibility and share Moringa Tea’s health benefits and sustainability values globally.
To help financially, Organics Cook Islands was able to secure a BLP subsidy for the advice provided by Haus of Skai.
When asked about BLP, Susana says “Business Link Pacific has been a must in the journey. From grants support upgrading technology, to getting a professional marketing plan, the people of BLP advised us from the start in every step needed. They’ve connected us to experts who assisted with import regulations for the New Zealand market, provided export and packaging design lessons, offered support in marketing strategy, export packaging, and website development. We can’t be more grateful.”
Robert and Susana started their family business in 2007 planting the seeds of a visionary enterprise. Their organic farm is located in the fertile volcanic valleys of Rarotonga where they cultivate vegetables and fruit trees without the use of harmful chemicals or additives. Over the decades, the Organics Cook Islands commitment to sustainability and innovation has transformed their venture into a beacon of health and environmental stewardship in the Pacific.
Driven by their passion for creating sustainable, health-focused products, Robert and Susana ventured into cultivating Moringa oleifera trees. Known as the “miracle tree,” its leaves are rich in nutrients and offer an array of health benefits. Starting with 400 trees, the plantation has now expanded to over 700 trees, which thrive in the rich volcanic soils.
Every step of the production process reflects ‘MORINGA Plus For You’ eco-conscious ethos. The leaves are hygienically air-dried at a low temperature to preserve their rich nutritional value, while by-products are repurposed as animal feed or compost to ensure zero waste. Even the packaging tells a story of sustainability, crafted from Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) recycled from the shores of
While Moringa Tea is one popular way to enjoy its benefits, the leaf’s versatility makes it an adaptable ingredient for a healthy lifestyle. It can be incorporated into smoothies, sandwiches, salads, soups, pasta, rice, or other meals, offering endless possibilities for nourishment.
The popularity of Moringa has inspired Organics Cook Islands to dream bigger. With nutritional testing completed in 2024 and the final stages of export packaging design underway, the company is preparing to introduce Moringa products to international markets. Last year, the first stage of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification was completed, demonstrating their commitment to food safety and quality. The company is now looking forward to advancing through the remaining stages of certification.
Their website, www.MORINGAPlusForYou.com, is already live, providing essential information about their products and sustainability initiatives, with e-commerce functionality coming soon to enable seamless online sales locally and globally.
True to their core values, Organics Cook Islands is extending their impact beyond agriculture. The company is making its first steps toward social inclusion by planning to employ individuals with disabilities to assist in the processing of Moringa leaves. This initiative underscores their belief in empowering all members of the community.
Looking ahead, Organic Cook Islands is embracing cutting-edge technology with plans to use artificial intelligence for targeted online marketing. By reaching the right consumers around the world, they aim to share the wonders of Moringa and the values of sustainability with a growing audience. This digital transformation positions the company to compete on the international stage, unlocking new revenue streams while promoting sustainable, locally sourced products.
