It’s time that we see all gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideas,” Emma Watson #IWD2021 #ChooseToChallenge #WeAreDTGlobal #BLP
Today, we have a chat with Deepika Dave, Business Operations Coordinator at Business Link Pacific in Auckland, New Zealand. Deepika tells us about her journey into the role at BLP and how she is contributing to an equitable future in a Covid-19 world.
Deepika is originally from India where she graduated from Anna University Chennai with a Bachelors of Engineering (Electronics & Communications). After 6 years of work in network engineering and marketing in India, Deepika, her husband and her son moved to New Zealand in order to pursue opportunities to study business.
I knew I wanted to further my education and that I could do this with the support of my family in New Zealand. While it was challenging juggling family commitment, part-time work and study, I successfully graduated with a Diploma in Management and was accepted into an excellence program, which led me to secure a job with Business Link Pacific (BLP),” says Deepika.
Working with BLP and supporting women through its GESI approach is something Deepika feels very passionate about.
I feel very fortunate to be a part of the core team and involved in the entire process, which I believe is contributing to an equitable future in a Covid-19 world through equal access to business advisory services, business health checks and subsidies for this support,” says Deepika.
When asked how we can create an equitable future for women in business Deepika says: “Gender bias and inequality is sensitive and should be handled carefully. However, by sharing workspaces, and promoting gender diversity in leadership teams we can show the path towards greatness.”
Deepika adds that she likes to remind herself of Michelle Obama’s quote whenever she feels like a task might be impossible to achieve: “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
